Meet Robert

I am an experienced tech lawyer, and a dedicated community leader with a track record of thoughtful service to San Rafael and Marin. I was born and raised in California to a Mexican American father from East LA, and a Jewish American mother from Geyserville. Both my parents were lifelong public servants and engaged leaders in civic organizations. From their teachings and my own lived experiences, I deeply understand different perspectives and how to bring people together.

Representing California employees and state agencies as a Deputy Attorney General.
I served under the Kamala Harris and Xavier Becerra administrations and was awarded the California Attorney General's Award for contributions to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Litigation Team. I went on to clerk for two federal judges in San Francisco during the First Trump Administration where I continued to work on some of the most impactful cases of my career.

Chair of the San Rafael Park & Recreation Commission.
My wife Linda and I chose Marin County to raise our family for its beautiful outdoors and family-friendly community. As a Commissioner these past 4 years, I helped the City complete its first ever Parks and Recreation Master Plan. I reviewed and supported the improvement of parks and recreational programs for those of all ages across San Rafael, implementing the Master Plan’s vision for our City’s long term future.

Board Member on the Point San Pedro Road Coalition.
As a father of two energetic toddlers, I care deeply about improving our City and County for future generations. I joined the Coalition’s non-profit Board to address roadway safety, and to advocate for improving our infrastructure. In 2024, I ran my first political campaign for Marin Municipal Water District, focused on improving our water supply resiliency to create a better future for the next generation of Marinites. I will keep fighting for our families and children to bring fresh leadership, with diversity of thought and background that represents us in Marin County.

Accomplished Big Law Litigator and Crypto Legal Counsel.
I worked for 4 years as a commercial litigator at the international law firm Morrison Foerster, where my clients were some of the largest tech companies in the world and I handled a robust pro bono docket representing victims of civil rights and domestic abuse. Now I work as legal counsel to a multi-billion dollar financial services company, Kraken Digital Asset Exchange, proudly aiming to accelerate the global adoption of crypto so that everyone can share in a future of financial inclusivity and freedom.

I earned my B.A. in Politics and Economics at Occidental College, and my J.D. at the University of Chicago Law School. With each new experience and new person I meet along the way, I am more driven to serve the community that I love.
